We will get confirmation of Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko in the coming days.

With Tyson Fury out of the equation, having vacated the WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles he won last year, the heavyweight fight that everybody wants to see is effectively official.

Gareth A. Davies of the Telegraph has announced that the £30m bout, slated for December 10, will be confirmed by Matchroom Sport early next week.

The report names the Manchester Arena and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium as the frontrunners in terms of potential venues for the fight between IBF world heavyweight champion Joshua and former long-time undisputed champ Klitschko.

Joshua, the London 2012 Olympic super-heavyweight champion, has been unbeaten since turning professional in 2013 and has finished his opponent in each of his 17 victories.

It’s been a frustrating year for the Ukrainian veteran who, since being dethroned by Fury last November, has seen the rematch fall through time and time again.

The meeting of Joshua and Klitschko is expected to take place on Sky Box Office and is likely to break the previous pay-per-view record for a British fighter in a world title fight, which stands at 1.2 million sales.

And with Joshua the most exciting talent to emerge from these shores in years and Klitschko the previous indomitable champion, this seems the most logical next step for both men.

Fight fans certainly aren’t going to complain.
