Sometimes the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
That’s certainly the opinion of Carlos Bacca, who has shown his gratitude for a matter as incidental as not being a West Ham United player.
The eagle-eyed among you might be about to point out that Bacca has never played for West Ham. And you’d be right.
The Colombian international was heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium over the summer but ultimately opted to remain at the San Siro, where he has already scored six goals in eight appearances this season.

Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Bacca confirmed that West Ham was the club most insistent in its pursuit of him, though the Irons ultimately ended up bolstering their attacking ranks with loanees Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri.
Neither Zaza nor Calleri has scored for the first team at the time of writing, though the former has proved popular with fans for his hard work.
And after watching things unfold in East London, where West Ham are currently hovering just above the Premier League’s relegation places, the 30-year-old seems very grateful to still be in Italy.
“I made the best decision [in choosing to remain with Milan], thank God,” Bacca said.
“Here I have an important role, I always felt a leader, a mature player because I tried different leagues.”
Had Bacca moved to England, it would have been the fifth different country in which he played top-flight football.
After beginning his career in his native Colombia, he played for Club Brugge in Belgium and Sevilla in Spain before joining Milan in the summer of 2015.
