Conor McGregor is in electric form for glorious new UFC 205 preview

Some of this is pure spine-tingling

Conan Doherty

“We are going to have an event at the most iconic venue in all of combat sports.”

November 12 is going to be like none other.

The UFC has assembled its biggest ever card. The UFC is going to New York for the first ever time. The UFC is bracing itself for more Conor McGregor history.

Make no mistake about it, this is major.

Belts on the line, pride at stake, history in the making.

One man gets this sort of occasion better than the rest of them. One man was born for this sort of occasion.

Conor McGregor is relaxed at the prospect of becoming a two-weight UFC champion. No-one else has done it before – of course they haven’t, why else would he be interested? This is what he does.

And, ahead of his showdown with Eddie Alvarez when the Dubliner readies to welcome the New Yorker to his turf… in New York… McGregor is a picture of serenity.

“I’m going to introduce Madison Square Garden to this style: to true, pure combat,” he said.

“No-one has had the deuce in the UFC so I’m going to go and get those two belts, take out two divisions. If anybody can do it, it’s me. Nobody else can do it.

“The game is in for a shock once again.”

How many more times can he shock this game? Whatever amount it takes, he’ll just keep on doing it.

“There has never been a fighter who has captured the imaginations of the fans like Conor McGregor…” That’s the voice of Joe Rogan.

You’d do well to keep every one of your hairs in their place during this extended UFC 205 preview.
