Sadio Mane’s dummy against Watford was so good, plenty of fans missed it

Worth the Mane

As if the long nights, shit weather and thought of a man that can’t be trusted to run his own Twitter account being given the nuclear codes for the US wasn’t enough to leave you feeling miserable this week, let us remind you that domestic football has been interrupted for yet another international break.

Although England’s match against Scotland on Friday night will probably be more interesting than October’s offering of World Cup qualifiers, it’s safe to say most of us will be missing our weekly fix of Premier League action on Saturday and Sunday.

As things stand, it’s Liverpool that are sitting pretty at the summit of England’s top flight with more and more football fans tipping Jurgen Klopp’s men to win the club’s first league title since 1990.

Summer signing Sadio Mane, who arrived from Southampton for £34m, has been a large part of Liverpool’s recent good form, linking up superbly with Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana.

That was the case in their last outing on Sunday, when the foursome were responsible for four of the six goals scored against Watford at Anfield.

The Senegalese international scored a brace in the 6-1 victory, opening the scoring with a header and linking with Firmino for Liverpool’s fifth.

Liverpool have today shared footage of Mane’s second goal which also shows the superb dummy he provided in the build up.

Mane can be seen with his back to the camera as Jordan Henderson sends a pass in his direction. Instead of controlling it, he lets the ball run through his legs to Firmino and continues his run into the box. The Brazilian eventually squares the ball for Mane to nudge home.

Strangely, as the replies to the tweet reveal, many Liverpool supporters had missed his dummy the first time they’d seen the goal.
