Man whose conspiracy theorist mum compared NHS workers to Nazis says she is ‘beyond help’

NHS workers compared to Nazi’s by a former nurse, but her son has had enough.

Kate Shemirani, a former nurse, turned conspiracy theorist, has made headlines recently over her continued spouting of anti-lockdown, anti-vax, and anti-mask rhetoric. Her son, Sebastian Shemirani, has now said his mother is definitely “definitely beyond help.”

Kate Shemirani received widespread criticism on Saturday when she spoke at the Trafalgar Square protest. Amongst other things, she compared NHS staff to Nazi criminals who were executed after WW2 ended. Though many people called into question whether this was a direct threat, Shemirani was accused of aggression.

“At the Nuremberg trials, the doctors and nurses stood trial and they hung,” she said, resulting in an uproar of cheering from the crowd.

Her son appeared on the Today Programme on BBC Radio 4 and said he now believes that his mother should be prosecuted by law because it is “only a matter of time before someone acts on the bad advice that she is giving the country.”

“[she is] so arrogant in her worldview and truly believes she is a conduit for truth, on a spiritual level, she thinks that she shouldn’t have to listen to people like us.”

He reiterated how difficult it is to talk to her because it is “impossible to talk to somebody when they’ve got that level of God complex.”

The response online has been immensely positive, with people rallying around her son to console and comfort him.

“This man totally blew me away this morning, talking about his mother like this on national radio. It must be so incredibly tough. In solidarity!” wrote Clare.
“Thank you to Sebastian for speaking up + presenting another perspective to this sad + upsetting story. I hope that the people who cheered on his mother’s hateful speech will understand their error, that they have contributed to someone’s mental health crisis + to our risk of harm.”
