The fight against coronavirus goes on as more new cases are reported
According to the daily COVID-19 summary, the UK has recorded 5,341 new cases and, sadly, four deaths related to coronavirus infections. Data from the past seven days shows an increase of 11,022 cases (49%) on the last update provided in May.
This takes the total number of cases confirmed to 4,511,669 and the death toll to 127,836. The government is understandably continuing to advise caution, with concerns still looming over the Delta variant and other new strains on the rise.

This announcement comes just five days since the UK announced no new daily deaths for the first time since the pandemic began in March 2020. Equally, though we’re still not out of the wood yet, the vaccine rollout programme is something to feel more positive about.
Over 40 million Brits have had their first dose with over 27 million of those having had a second. Under 30s are set to start receiving their jabs this week and it is thought even children between 12 and 15-year-olds could receive their first jabs in August.
