British sprint star Adam Gemili would, in a normal Olympic year, be gearing up his training right about now with autumn and the Games in sight. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the impact it is having on our societies worldwide with lockdowns, restricted movements and in some cases closed borders, things have changed.
While the International Olympic Committee have yet to make any official statement regarding the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics, many figures have called for them to follow UEFA’s lead with Euro 2020 and do so.
We spoke to Gemili about while the Olympics is the pinnacle for athletes, he believes the health and safety of everyone must come before putting on the Games.
