The over-25s are set to become the next age group to receive vaccines
As per the BBC, COVID-19 vaccines will be offered to 25-29-year-olds starting from tomorrow. Wonderful news.
This comes as the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, addressed the House of Commons with the latest update. According to Hancock, 25-29-year-olds will start to receive text messages asking them to book their jabs from tomorrow.
Tomorrow (8th of June) will also mark six months since the world first started vaccinating people against coronavirus. Fourteen million people have been vaccinated in the UK and 2 billion doses have been delivered across the globe.
He urged all those who receive texts to “get both jabs” as well as reminding people to abide by the “hands, face, space, fresh air” motto. The numbers are improving, cases are still being reported daily.
Hancock noted that the current vaccine rollout programme has averted 39,000 hospitalisations and 13,000 deaths, adding that “The vaccination brings us hope.”
This latest news also makes the suggestion that children aged 12-15 could receive the jab by August too. Things are on the up, folks – we’re getting there, slowly but surely. Keep calm and carry on.
