“Sometimes people actually do make our job easy,” police said
An alleged thief has landed himself in hot water by making a monumental clothing blunder.
According to police in the US state of South Carolina, the man was arrested after wearing the exact same shirt seen on CCTV to a courtroom the very next day.
He had reportedly been spotted taking packages and deliveries from peoples’ porches.
CCTV pictures of the man were circulated in a community Facebook group, alongside accusations he had stolen items left on doorsteps in the Goose Creek area of South Carolina.
The man can be seen wearing a green and red North Face t-shirt.
The post read: “Beware of this porch pirate! This was around noon today in The Oaks. Notice the empty Amazon package in his hand.
“It is something he stole off a neighbour’s porch and threw the empty package in my trash can (dumb crook) – and then stole the package off my porch (all on camera) and stuffed it in his backpack, with whatever else he had stolen in the neighbourhood. He was with a second person also on a bicycle. The police have been notified.”
Police confirmed the man was in custody after wearing the same shirt seen on CCTV to court the next day. (Source: Goose Creek Police Department Facebook)The following day, police issued a statement announcing they had arrested the man – after he was spotted at the local courtroom wearing that same t-shirt.
The police statement read: “Remember seeing the post on the left? Well, sometimes people actually do make our job easy. This guy decided to come into our courtroom the day after the first post was made and lucky for us he was even wearing the same shirt. We are happy to say he is in custody.”
