The woman was later found at home, ‘slumped over in a chair, smelling strongly of alcohol’
Police have released a disturbing video of a woman who fell asleep drunk at the wheel before speeding off at more than 100mph in an attempt to evade arrest.
In footage filmed by a member of the public and police bodycams, the motorist is seen dozing in the driver’s seat with a pool of vomit outside her door.
When confronted, the woman wakes up and then speeds off – mounting a curb along the way.
The unnamed woman, who was pursued by a member of the public after being seen speeding and driving “erratically” on the A40, has since been banned from driving for 20 months, slapped with a 12-month community order, and an eight-week electronic tag order.

She was also required to complete 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and received a fine of £180.
The footage was released by Gloucestershire Constabulary as drivers are being warned not to get behind the wheel after a pint too many this Christmas with the launch of the annual Anti-Drink and Drug Driving campaign.
A police spokesperson said the drunk driver was “swerving across the road and narrowly missing other road users” and was driving so fast that the driver monitoring the situation “lost sight” of her when she turned off in the direction of Whittington.
The spokesperson said the woman’s car was later located in a housing estate outside of her home address where officers found her “slumped over in a chair, smelling strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech”.
“As our Roads Policing Officer Tim Griffiths says to the driver (in the video), she was lucky not to have killed herself or anyone else,” the spokesperson added.
