He reportedly had fly larvae in his eyes and mouth when officers found him
A woman in the US has been arrested for allegedly murdering her ex-deputy sheriff husband before burning his naked body on their back porch.
Evelyn Zigerelli-Henderson was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated arson and arson on June 16, having initially claimed her husband’s death was a suicide. Her spouse, Carmen Henderson, retired from the police force in 1995.
As reported through CBS12, Zigerelli-Henderson called 911 and claimed her husband of 30 years, ex-sheriff’s deputy Henderson, had set himself on fire. A criminal complaint detailed how the woman changed her story numerous times while being questioned by officers.

The 66-year-old initially claimed suicide but changed the story to say her husband, 84, had accidentally set himself on fire while smoking a cigar on their porch.

But while inspecting the body, officers at the scene witnessed fly larvae in his mouth and nostrils that indicated he’d been dead for a considerable amount of time. The complaint noted how she eventually admitted to delaying the emergency call but did not offer an explanation.

According to the New York Post, the couple was in debt after Zigerelli-Henderson had reportedly wasted savings on vacation homes and lavish activities like day spas. They were in so much trouble that the sheriff’s office was going to seize their property after owing $40k in mortgage payments.
Carmen did have a $10,000 life insurance policy.
