Alec Baldwin has not publicly responded to the lawsuit
A script supervisor from Rust is suing Alec Baldwin and other producers over the accidental death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Script supervisor Mamie Mitchell was the first person to call 911 after Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed by Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin last month. She broke down in tears on November 17 as she explained why she is filing a lawsuit.
The suit names 22 defendants associated with the film, including Alec Baldwin, producers, armourer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, First Assistant Director David Halls and others.
She has also named six production companies, including El Dorado Pictures, Thomasville Pictures, Short Porch Pictures, Brittany House Pictures, 3rd Shift Media and Streamline Global.
The suit claims assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and deliberate infliction of harm while also stating that the scene did not require a gun to be fired.
“I ran out and called 911 and said ‘Bring everybody, send everybody,'” Mitchell said during the press conference.
She continued: “This woman is gone at the beginning of her career. She was an extraordinary, rare, very rare woman.
“I will never forget what happened on the set of Rust that day.
“I relive the shooting and the sound of the explosion from the gun over and over again.”
Mitchell claims she was left depressed and “frightened of the future” following the shooting.
“This violent tragedy has taken away the joy in my life,” she continued.
Mitchell’s lawyer, attorney powerhouse Gloria Allred, took aim at Baldwin and said that he “cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of the firearm.
“We are conducting our own investigation of what happened because there are many unanswered questions,” Allred explained.
