All the best films feature memorable partnerships.
Mr White, Mr Blonde, Mr Pink et al made Reservoir Dogs the film it was. The Fantastic Four were more than the sum of their parts. And of course The Lego Movie wouldn’t have been the same without Batman in the picture.
But the next addition to the ensemble sub-genre might be the best yet.
According to Deadline, Nickelodeon are creating their own movie universe including Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life and more.
If you spent your childhood watching Nickelodeon instead of doing your homework, this will feel like the holy grail of movies.
Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess is on board for what has been described as ‘an original narrative that sounds like Paramount’s answer to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.’
We hope more is better and it’s a step up on Rugrats in Paris, which, while relatively accomplished, really could have done with more obscure references and narrative non sequiturs.
The five cartoon series whose characters are confirmed for the film are as follows:
- Rugrats
- Ren & Stimpy
- Rocko’s Modern Life
- Aaahh! Real Monsters
- The Angry Beavers
