Amber Heard, Johnny Depp’s ex-wife, appears to have responded to JK Rowling’s statement about why she decided to keep Johnny in his role within the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
JK posted the lengthy statement on her website yesterday about her decision, and the director’s decision, to keep Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in the next movie.
Johnny was cast as Grindelwald before his abuse allegations towards Amber came to light. Once they became known in the media, lots of people began to wonder whether or not JK would replace him.
JK hadn’t spoken about her decision until last night. While she never mentioned Amber by name she did reference stories about Johnny that were in the media and also added the line:
“However, the agreements that have been put in place to protect the privacy of two people, both of whom have expressed a desire to get on with their lives, must be respected. Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies.”
The ‘two people’ she refers to are presumably Johnny and Amber.
So, in response, Amber sent out a very cryptic tweet with a statement of her own. She said, “For the record, this was our FULL joint statement. To pick&choose certain lines & quote them out of context, is not right.Women, stay strong.”
