Angela Scanlon’s star continues to rise, with the Irish presenter being announced as a temporary co-host for BBC’s flagship show, The One Show,
Scanlon will be filling in for regular host Alex Jones while she’s on maternity leave, joining Michelle Ackerley and Matt Baker on the sofa.
“I’m over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I’m thrilled to be looking after Alex’s spot on the green sofa while she is away,” Scanlon said.
“I have always been a massive fan of The One Show and love being part of that wonderful family so I really can’t wait to get started.”

The Irish presenter, who has anchored Robot Wars alongside Dara Ó Briain, will be co-hosting The One Show on Thursdays and Fridays.
She was appointed as the co-host of the BBC show upon its return earlier this year, and presided over a hugely successful revamp which put viewing figures for other programmes in the shade.
A second series of the Sunday night favourite has already been commissioned, with BBC Two channel controller Patrick Holland saying: “I am delighted that Dara and Angela will be once again challenging Britain’s finest robot builders to take on the dreaded House Robots.”
