They're dropping like flies

There’ll be one fewer Carter family member on Albert Square.

EastEnders has confirmed the exit of yet another character from the soap – Johnny Carter.

Actor Ted Reilly, who plays Johnny, has already said his goodbyes to his co-stars.

“We can confirm Ted has finished filming with EastEnders and wish him all the best for the future,” a soap spokesperson told Digital Spy today.

The soap’s bosses have not yet revealed how exactly Johnny will be bowing out, though his farewell isn’t expected to be broadcast until the New Year.

Ted Reilly took over the role of Johnny early last year from actor Sam Strike, who had left the soap in 2014.

It looks like Ted could be leaving the soap to pursue a stage career.

He’s due to appear in an off-West End production in January.

Some of Johnny’s most memorable storylines include his one-night stand with Ben Mitchell and his brush with death after being shot by Ted Murray.

He’s the latest young character to be leaving Albert Square, following in the footsteps of Lauren and Abi Branning and Ben Mitchell.

It’s not all bad news though as some familiar faces will be returning to EastEnderssoon. Mel Owen (played by Tamzin Outhwaite), Tiffany Mitchell (Maisie Smith) and Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) are all coming back.
