Binge-watched your way through Stranger Things? Can’t wait for season two of the show to come out next year? We may have something just for you…
A new Netflix original production is just a matter of weeks away to quench your sci-fi fantasy thirst. Orphan Black writer Tony Elliott is the brains behind ARQ, his feature debut that looks like a dystopian version of Groundhog Day meets Inception, with a little bit of Looper thrown into the mix.
It stars Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Rachael Taylor (Jessica Jones) as a couple re-living the worst day of their lives, over and over and over again. But unlike Stranger Things, it has nothing to do with paranormal activity or beings from another world, but rather an invention – the ARQ – that could solve the global energy crisis.
The only problem is that Amell and Taylor are caught up in a repetitive space-time warp, and a load of baddies want to get their hands on the priceless tech that’s causing the glitch in linear reality. If that makes no sense whatsoever, here’s the official blurb:
‘In a dystopian future, an engineer trapped in a house and surrounded by a mysterious gang of masked intruders must protect a technology that could deliver unlimited energy and end the wars that have consumed the world.’
Still none the wiser? Well that’s part of the point, isn’t it? Check out the trailer below. You’ll be able to catch it on Netflix from September 16…
