But there is something else at the end of the movie *spoiler warning*…
After much anticipation Avengers: Endgame was finally released last night, with movie fans queuing up at cinemas for midnight screenings of the biggest superhero movie of 2019. Running at an epic 3 hours and 58 seconds in total, it is the longest movie in Marvel franchise history.
Post-credit scenes have become a staple of the MCU – beginning a decade ago when Iron Man ended with Tony Stark being invited to join the Avengers – and often tease where the universe is heading and what is coming up in future movies.
However, it’s reported that the decision to forego mid and end credits was an active choice by the film’s director to mark the finale of the film as an endpoint in the franchise, it is called Endgame after all.
There is however a short snippet of audio at the end of the move, which could have implications for where it all goes next. A noise that plays over the Marvel logo, is described as a “clanking” noise of metal hitting metal.
One Reddit user, OxideCyanide, has said of the ending: “Even though we didnt see anything, we heard the sound of a ‘blacksmith’ hammering something metal,” the user wrote. “Those who are unfamiliar with the sound, that ‘blacksmith’ was Tony Stark making the very first Iron Man suit. The one that started it all.”
If so, it would be a poignant ending to the film.
