Barry Elliott, better known as Barry Chuckle, passed away over the weekend
The BBC has released part of the back catalogue of ChuckleVision following the death of the show’s co-star Barry Chuckle on Sunday.
The final series of the show was made available by CBBC on Tuesday afternoon.
Director of BBC Children’s, Alice Webb, said: “Barry was loved by both the audience and his colleagues at BBC Children’s. He’ll be sorely missed by all who knew him.
“We hope by making the final ever series of ChuckleVision available that viewers old and new can enjoy Barry and Paul’s unique brand of kids’ comedy.”
The comedian, real name Barry Elliott, was known for his slapstick routines, visual humour, and recurring catchphrases “to me (to you)” and “oh dear, oh dear” along with his brother, Paul.
Brother Paul and Barry had been performing on television since winning the talent competition Opportunity Knocks in 1967, however, ChuckleVision was arguably their most famous show running since 1987.
F0llowing Barry’s death, Paul said: “I’ve not just lost my brother, I’ve lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend.”
His manager Phil Dale added: “It is with great sadness that the family announce that Barry passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family.”
“The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of the Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part the great, great loss they feel.”
