Here are the best TV shows that will be available on Netflix in 2017

It's going to be a good year.

Paul Moore

You’ll be binging on these over the coming months.

Netflix recently hosted a media event in New York where they announced some details about what we can all expect in 2017.

On the TV side of things, a healthy mix of old favourites and brand new titles will be available. Take a look.

Narcos (Season 3)

What’s in store? With a certain someone out of the way, the focus should shift to the Cali cartel. Can the creators strike white gold again?

Stranger Things (Season 2)

What’s in store? Who the f**k knows what type of demons, monsters and weird experiments are going on in The Upside Down? Still, take a look at the size of that spider in the teaser trailer. One thing is for sure, we’re not showing up for work over Halloween.

Master of None (Season 2)

What’s in store? In our opinion, no other show could match Aziz Ansari’s funny, honest and incredibly perceptive take on what it’s like to be in your early thirties. The soundtrack kicked ass, the writing was sharp and as for the ‘Parents’ episode? Wow.

House of Cards (Season 5)

What’s in store? Jesus, it could be anything. There’s one big question though, how can they trump the real events that are unfolding with Trump?

El Chapo (Season 1)

What’s in store? A new scripted series about the life of the notorious drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán which promises to “pull back the curtain on one of the most captivating criminals of our time by combining the world-class reporting and insights from Univision News’ investigative team with an outstanding team of talented storytellers and producers.”

Orange is the New Black (Season 5)

What’s in store? Fans will be eagerly anticipating the outcome of last season’s game-changing tragedy and cliff-hanger finale.

Dark (Season 1)

What’s in store? A family saga with a supernatural twist, is set in a German town in present day where the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships between four families.

In ten, one hour-long episodes, the story takes on a supernatural twist that ties back to the same town in 1986. The team that produced The Lives of Others are behind this one, we have high hopes.

Castlevania (Season 1)

What’s in store? Vampires, and lots of them.

We’re being promised an incredibly violent mini-series that uses the iconic Nintendo game as its inspiration.  What’s the plot of this animated show? Well, the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.

It probably won’t look like this.

Watership Down (Season 1)

What’s in store? People of a certain age will still remember the original film because it was bloody haunting.

The beloved novel will be reinterpreted, this time as a four-part animated mini-series. Set in the idyllic rural landscape of southern England, this tale of adventure, courage, and survival follows a band of rabbits on their flight from the intrusion of man and the certain destruction of their home.

Marvel’s Iron Fist

What’s in store? A young man is bestowed with incredible martial arts skills and a mystical force known as the Iron Fist.

Star Trek: Discovery (Season 1)

What’s in store? Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, the series follows the crew of the USS Discovery as they discover new worlds and civilisations, while exploring the franchise’s signature contemporary themes.

We’re being told that the season-long storyline will revolve around “an incident and an event in Star Trek history that’s been talked about but never been explored”.

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later

What’s in store? See what happens to your favourite campers and counselors ten years after the original Wet Hot American Summer. Sadly, the amazing Paul Rudd isn’t back.

Gypsy

What’s in store? Therapist Jean Holloway (Naomi Watts) becomes too immersed in the lives of her patients.

Ultimate Beastmaster

What’s in store: Six nations have sent their fiercest athletes. The Beast stands ready to devour them all. Let the showdown begin.
