The review has ruined its 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Black Panther is one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. Fans have counting days to its release, both eager to see how it moves the Marvel Cinematic Universe forward, and also because of its important dedication to increasing diversity in mainstream Hollywood movies.
The first reviews are started to come in, and so far it looks like it lives up to the hype. Critics have praised the film’s look, action scenes and Michael B Jordan’s performance in particular. And for the last week, it has had a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, it has now been knocked down to a lowly 98% rating, after it received its first bad review. Rotten Tomatoes works by aggregated the reviews of hundreds of accredited professional critics, to produce an average score. Now one of those reviewers – Ed Power of the Irish Independent – been the first one to not give the film a positive review.
(To be fair, he didn’t slate the film and gave it three out of five stars)
There’s one line fans have taken objection to in particular:
What he doesn’t get to do much of is jump around beating-up bad guys. That’s a shame.
People are not happy though.

This one negative reviewer of Black Panther gave it a rotten because T’Challa doesn’t beat up enough “bad guys”. Really my dude? pic.twitter.com/8fupQDhTpQ
