Pictures of seaside piers are flooding people’s Twitter feeds
The trending twitter hashtag “BringBackPiers” has officially been hijacked and replaced with pictures of iconic seaside piers from around the United Kingdom.
Piers Morgan left ITV’s Good Morning Britain this week after receiving 41,000 Ofcom complaints and a formal complaint filed by Meghan Markle.
His former co-host, Susanna Reid, was joined by Ranvir Singh on the following day’s GMB show, leading to ‘#BringBackPiers’ trending on Twitter.
However, some used the opportunity to undermine the subject in the best way they could.
The images of Piers Morgan have instead been replaced by a flood of images of piers around the UK.
Let’s take a look at some of the best ones, shall we?
One mocked the departure of Piers Morgan, saying: “I heard that they were getting rid of piers…? Why, they are lovely things – especially at my home town, Eastborne Pier. #bringbackpiers.”

Another joked that “too many” piers “have drifted off in the bad weather”.

The hashtag was soon inundating people’s Twitter feed. One user said: “This hashtag has made my day. Love a good Pier…”.
Don’t we all, what’s not to like about an image of pier with the sun setting behind it?

A personal favourite is a gif used to mock Piers Morgan’s reaction to the trending hashtag on social media.
The user said: “Imagining @piersmorgan waking up to see #bringbackpiers is trending and then realising it’s just pictures of actual piers.”
