From the creator of Blade Runner and Minority Report. This could be special.
Given that Breaking Bad was as close to perfection as any TV show could manage, it must take something truly special to get Bryan Cranston back to the small screen.
Well, Walter White himself will feature – and executive produce – Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, a new 10-episode sci-fi anthology series that has been commissioned by Channel 4 and by Amazon Prime Video for the U.S.
In Electric Dreams, each stand-alone-alone episode will be inspired by one of Dick’s most famous short stories.
For those that are curious, Philip K. Dick is the author that’s responsible for writing the novels/short stories that inspired the following films; Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly, Paycheck, Next , and The Adjustment Bureau.
The plot for the episode that features Cranston – In Human Is – revolves around a woman that’s caught in a loveless marriage (Essie Davis). Upon his return from battle, her emotionally abusive husband (Cranston) suddenly appears to be a different man – in more ways than one. We’re told that the episode will discuss the core motif of Philip K. Dick’s work- what defines us as human?
Cranston isn’t the only big name to feature in the series because every episode will have an all-star cast including; Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Greg Kinnear (As Good As It Gets), Vera Farmiga (The Departed), Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), Anna Paquin (True Blood, the X-Men films), Terrence Howard (Empire,), Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner, Secrets & Lies, The King’s Speech), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Jack Reynor (Macbeth, Free Fire, Jungle Book), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, The Martian, Top Boy) and many more.
Given the level of talent involved, this could be something very special.
