First details reportedly revealed about Christopher Nolan’s new movie

It looks like the film will see him reuniting with a major Hollywood star.

The first details about writer-director Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to smash hit and Oscar Best Picture winner Oppenheimer have reportedly been revealed.

According to multiple outlets, there are plans for the legendary filmmaker’s movie – whose title is unknown as-of-yet – to be released on IMAX on 17 July, 2026 by Universal Pictures.

It is also said that Oscar-winner Matt Damon is in talks to star in the film, with Deadline stating that the mysterious blockbuster is set to shoot in early 2025.

Damon previously has had major supporting roles in two Nolan epics: Interstellar and Oppenheimer.

Currently details about the writer-director’s new project are being kept tightly under wraps, as is often the case with his films this early in the process.

However, The Hollywood Reporter has said that the movie will not be a big screen version of classic British series The Prisoner – a reboot Nolan has long been rumoured to tackle.

The historical epic thriller Oppenheimer was released in the summer of 2023 and grossed $977 million on a $100 million budget – something all the more impressive given its dark subject matter.

It also swept the Oscars, winning seven awards – including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy.

Pre-Oppenheimer, the filmmaker also made epics like The Dark Knight Trilogy, Dunkirk, Inception, Interstellar and Tenet.

As such, all eyes will be on his latest project in the coming months for more announcements.
