Well and truly deserved.
There was little surprise in the ‘Best Animated Feature’ category at the 90th Academy Awards, with Pixar picking up the gong for Coco.
The win was the second Oscar for the film’s director Lee Unkrich, who won his first Oscar for Toy Story 3.
It comes after the animation won the awards for best animated movie at the Golden Globes, Baftas, New York Film Critics Circle and Producers Guild.
The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel Rivera who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living. It premiered in October last year.
