Who could it be?
There’s nothing like the return of an old character to shake things up in soapland so we’re very excited by the prospect of a comeback on the cobbles.
Coronation Street is set to bring back an ‘old favourite’ to up the drama in Weatherfield, it’s been revealed.
The show’s producers won’t say who it is but have confirmed that they’re currently in talks with the mystery actor.
“We are having a discussion about bringing someone back,” producer Kate Oates told The Daily Star Sunday.
“It’s a very well-established character… a long-standing name.”
Sadly, whoever it is won’t be staying long.
“It wouldn’t be for a long period. It would be a short stint.
“I can’t say more than that at this stage. But fans should watch this space.”
A number of names are being linked with the news, including the likes of Les Battersby, Jason Grimshaw, Emily Bishop, Curly Watts and even veteran Bet Lynch, who first appeared on the soap over 50 years ago in 1966.
Many fans reckon it’s Jim McDonald, played by Charles Lawson, who could be poised for a return as his prison stint for armed robbery finishes later this year.
Whoever it is, we hope they bring plenty of drama with them.
