A Coronation Street legend is set to return to the cobbles after spending 13 years away.
Martin Platt, played by Sean Wilson, is going to make his re-entrance into the soap later this year.
Best known for being married to Gail Platt once upon a time, Martin also dabbled in having affairs with his workmates, being stalked by nannies, and dating schoolgirl Katy Harris.
He left the show in 2005 due to a poor relationship with producers.
However, The Sun has reported Wilson is set to reprise his role in March for a string of episodes concerning son David Platt’s sexual assault.
It was revealed earlier this week that David will be drugged and raped by newcomer mechanic, Josh. Producers are of the opinion that this storyline warrants the return of Martin after 13 years away.
They said:
“With David’s rape storyline, the writers thought it would be a good time to have him back properly.”
Wilson had previously stated that he would never return to the show after a poor relationship with producers made his exit less than amicable.
At the time, he said:
“They were very rude to me when I left. I would rather walk down any other street even if I had a nail in my shoe.”
Producers had asked Wilson to do a storyline where Martin dated an underage girl leading to his eventual imprisonment.
