Dave Chappelle has shared a new stand up clip hitting back at those who want to “cancel” him over comments he made about trans people in his most recent Netflix special.
He says that he is willing to meet members of the trans community over accusations that his special, The Closer, was transphobic.
Some of the comments he makes in the show include saying that “gender is a fact” and that LGBT people are “too sensitive.”
In a recent clip, which was filmed at a performance in Louisville, Kentucky, on Sunday (October 24), he told the audience: “It’s been said in the press that I was invited to speak to transgender employees at Netflix and I refused.
“That is not true. If they had invited me I would have accepted it. Although I am confused about what we are speaking about…
“You said you want a safe working environment at Netflix. Well it seems like I’m the only one that can’t go to the office anymore.
“To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience. But you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands.”

In the clip shared on his Instagram, he goes on to deny that he is in conflict with the LGBT community. saying: “This has nothing to do with them. It’s about corporate interests and what I can say and what I cannot say.”
Chappelle claimed that film festivals have been uninviting him from events because of the comments he made in the special.
In the initial aftermath to the backlash, there were reports that senior management at Netflix had suspended members of staff for their open criticism of the special.
This was denied by the streaming platform, who said the members of staff had been suspended for crashing a virtual meeting of shareholders and directors at the company.
However Netflix Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, has apologised for how he handled internal dissent from employees, saying: “I screwed up.”
