Anelka: Misunderstood is now streaming

Nicolas Anelka’s career will long be remembered more for its controversies than for his achievements or his talent. The Frenchman played for 11 clubs and represented his country 69 times, but in the eyes of many, he will always be the bad boy who led a mutiny at the 2010 World Cup.

Of course, the truth is more nuanced. That truth is revealed in Netflix’s new documentary, which is available to stream today. In the film, Anelka recalls the biggest moments of his career, explains why he didn’t stay at Liverpool in 2002, what happened in South Africa and how he never really got over his penalty miss in the 2008 Champions League final.

Big names from French football, including former teammates Emannuel Petit, Robert Pires and Didier Drogba also discuss the enigmatic striker’s rollercoaster career.
