Honestly, Nevermind was released at midnight
Drake released a surprise album overnight, and the significant change in musical direction has left many fans reeling.
At midnight on Friday (June 17), the Canadian megastar released Honestly, Nevermind just a matter of hours after he first announced the project.
It represents a major shift from some of his previous work, such as Scorpion and Certified Lover Boy, with the new album described as being closer to the house and electronic genres.
Many have taken to social media to voice their immediate thoughts and reactions to the album
And it sounds like many aren’t feeling the new sound, with several describing it as “H&M music.”
One person wrote: “Drake going platinum in Zara and H&M with this album.”
I thought Drake was finna rap his ass off. He gave us Forever 21, Hot Topic, H&M ass music

And a third labelled it “the most mid album”, taking aim at those who were trying to defend it.

Someone else said: “Ngl I love house music and Drake smashed it on this, it’s different and it’s got summer vibes.”
And a third went as far as to call it one of the “best projects this year.”
Drake album is definitely one of the best projects this year. Really great stuff and he really is exploring a new area of his sound that is both daring and innovative

Only time will tell how permanent a shift in sound this is from Drake, but at the moment it’s certainly divided opinion.
Honestly, Nevermind is available to stream now.
