Dunkirk has released some new footage and it’s incredibly tense

Paul Moore

We can’t wait for this.

The Joker trying to “introduce a little anarchy” as Harvey Dent lay in hospital. Dom Cobb’s race against time before the dream levels collapse in Inception. The final act in The Prestige as Robert Angier and Alfred Borden push their limits to discover each others secrets. Coop facing up to that seismic and devastating wave during Interstellar.

Simply put, Christopher Nolan knows how to shoot a set-piece that’s brimming with tension and drama.

The first trailer for Dunkirk instantly grabbed us, but the fact that Nolan’s film will focus on soldiers in three different territories –  land, sea and air – has only upped the ante.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Dunkirk was a British military operation that saved 330,000 lives as Allied soldiers were surrounded by German forces.

In what’s being described as an ‘action-thriller’, Nolan is letting the visuals do all the talking and in the latest TV spot, we’re treated to some remarkable shots of aerial dogfights, sinking ships and soldiers in peril.

We’ve a feeling that you’re going to have no fingernails left when Dunkirk is released in cinemas  on July 21st.

If this trailer isn’t enough of a reason to watch it – it’s being released in 70mm in some locations – then a cast of Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy, Mark Rylance, Fionn Whitehead and Harry Styles should do it.

Take a look at what’s in store.
