Well, who the hell saw that one coming?
EastEnders fans were left stunned by Friday night’s revelation that Denise Fox is expecting Phil Mitchell’s child. To be honest, she seemed pretty surprised herself.
Fans tuned in expecting to find out that Kush Kazemi was the father, as the pair had been having a secret fling behind mother Carmel’s back.
But upon visiting the doctor, Denise was informed that she was actually 19 weeks pregnant, which would eliminate the possibility of Kazemi being the daddy.
It was at that point that the Walford resident remembered she’d had a drunken one-night-stand with Phil earlier in the year – let’s be honest, who hasn’t? – so while the Square’s most famous bald-headed hard-man wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the scene, it was pretty obvious by the look on Denise’s face.
18 weeks?!! That means the father is… 😲😲 #EastEnders pic.twitter.com/kpWg5214Gs

And in case anyone was still in doubt about where EastEnders were going with this, the next scene cut straight to the man himself opening Tiffany’s bedroom door. Yep, it’s Phil alright.
No, Phil – youdunit.
Once the penny dropped, viewers immediately took to social media to air their views on the shock storyline. The overwhelming majority seemed to think EastEnders had well and truly lost the plot.
Denise is a mess mate😂 #Eastenders

I think Denise Fox being pregnant with Phil Mitchell's baby is my new favourite ever #EastEnders storyline.

Phil Mitchell being the father of Denise's baby is one of the funniest storylines ever. Up there with Darren Miller and Heather #EastEnders
