“You’ve got to kill the person you were born to be in order to become the person you want to be”
Elton John is the latest musical icon set to be portrayed in a feature-length biopic, and you can watch the latest trailer for Rocketman below.
Starring Taron Egerton as the dynamic rocker, the film contains a wealth of British talent with Bodyguard hero Richard Madden playing John’s ruthless Scottish manager John Reid and Billy Elliot child star Jamie Bell as long-term lyrical collaborator Bernie Taupin.
The trailer sees Egerton flex his vocal cords with a tentative living room playthrough of 1971 hit Tiny Dancer before finding his feet to launch a music career and become the vibrant performer we all know and love.
Ahead of the film’s May 24 release across UK cinemas, you can watch the trailer here:
Dexter Fletcher, the man behind the 2015 biopic of cult ski jump icon Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, directed Rocketman with the screenplay produced by Billy Elliot and Warhorse writer Lee Hall.
In fact, Egerton also starred in Eddie The Eagle with this latest production not actually the first occasion he’s been involved in a musical production, after playing gorilla Johnny in Disney’s 2016 animated feature Sing.
