The 49-year-old has just released his first single in over a year
Eminem’s treated us to a brand new single this week, but according to previous comments he has made, we might not be able to expect too much more music from him.
The King and I is the rapper’s latest track, which will feature on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis movie coming out in June. It has already gained over 1 million views on Eminem’s Instagram alone, and it is clear the 49-year-old rapper still has a huge fan base.
But comments he made in an earlier interview suggest he might not make any more music once he reaches 50-years-old.

Speaking to VIBE back when he was 37, Eminem said he wasn’t sure “how much longer [he had] in [the] game.”
He said: “I’m always going to love hip-hop. But how much longer am I going to still do it? I couldn’t really give you an answer. But the day that this is not better than the last will probably be the day I stop.

“See, I’m old school. The fans might say the shit is garbage. You don’t how long people are going to want you around . . . Realistically, if I don’t rap, what the f*ck am I going to do? It’s too late to just be unfamous right now at this point.”
Eminem is going to be 50 years old this year and he’s nominated for hall of fame and performing at the super bowl half time show. What an Incredible year for his career. His longevity is really amazing. A poor kid from Detroit with a dream accomplished so much.

The rapper joked that he “hope[s]” he doesn’t need the money to have to keep going, but also mentioned how he really just wants to be “regular”.
He said: “I don’t consider myself a star. Obviously, I know I’m a celebrity but I don’t look at myself in that light. I’m just me, man. It’s one of the reasons that I stay here [in Detroit].

“I don’t want the attention. I don’t like the attention. I don’t like all that shit. Yes, I love the respect and the admiration that some people show me but I don’t thrive off that whole thing.”
Eminem will reach the big 5.0 on October 17 this year. Surely four months is more than enough time to squeeze in an album…right?
