Emmy Awards branded racist by watchers
The Emmy Awards have been criticised as no actors of colour left with a trophy despite the plethora of established talent worthy of the honour.
Amongst the usual snubs from people who disagree with the winners from last night’s Emmys are huge criticisms that arose when it became apparent that no actors of colour were among the winners. Pundits have been shocked to see no emerging talent breaking through, reports Variety.

Ryan Murphy’s POSE received deserved acknowledgement in the nominations but actors Billy Porter and MJ Rodriguez missed out on the win. Another duo from Saturday Night Live, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang, seemed prominent amongst the nominations and yet failed to make it to the top spot.
Variety’s original tweet has garnered over 1k likes and is being retweeted continuously by those who share the same view.

“Billy Porter and Mj Rodriguez fully robbed uno Pose is revolutionary, f**k hyper-white shit like The Crown,” wrote one person.
“I was rooting for #MJRodriguez until the last minute and admittedly T-ed off and confused. Just confused. This is some bs right here,” wrote another.

Both Rodriguez and Porter have gained enormous followings since starring in POSE, where they illustrate the beauty of 90’s ballroom culture and the trials and tribulations of the aids crisis.
Other people have said that Michaela Coel was snubbed for Best Actress for her portrayal of Arabella in I May Destroy You, which she also wrote and directed. Coel did, however, win the award for Outstanding Writing.
“Emmys said here is your black winner be happy and shut up. Same ole story,” tweeted one person in relation to Coel’s win.
