Okay, Adam Sandler has made some good movies.
Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Little Nicky, all undeniable classics that made him a comedy king back in the ’90s and ’00s. Nowadays, Sandler is happy to do a big poo on camera and release it as a movie on Netflix.
Two of his most recent plops, The Do-Over and The Ridiculous Six, both have 5% and 0% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes respectively, which says something about the quality of his output lately.
One can’t imagine that Sandler is too bothered about it, otherwise he’d put some effort in and make a decent movie, but in a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres he said that even his kids can’t be bothered to watch his films all the way through.
“They beg to see them,” the actor told DeGeneres. “They’re like, ‘Please, it’s not fair! Let me watch your movies. Those people always yell things at you on the street. I don’t know what the heck they’re talking about.’
“So I show them the movies, they demand this. I’d say about 20 minutes in I see them tuning out, and then I hear them – they’re nervous to say it – but like, ‘Can we watch something else?’”
Now, in fairness to Sandler, his kids are eight and 10 years old, but if you can’t get kids that age to laugh at farts and people falling over, you’re doing something wrong.
