There have been many, many film and TV versions of Robin Hood. The 1938 The Adventures of Robin Hood starring Errol Flynn is considered by many to be a definitive version, but then there’s also there’s the 1991 Kevin Coster version, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which of course gave us Brian Adams’ eternal “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You”. There’s also the 1973 animated Walt Disney version that recast Robin as a fox and created a generation of furies, and 90s kids will remember the classic CBBC comedy Maid Marian and her Merry Men.

2010 gave us Ridley Scott’s grim and gritty version starring Russell Crowe. That was less than a decade ago, and didn’t really set the world on fire, but we’ve got another big Hollywood version on the way. This November we’ll get Robin Hood, with Kingsmen’s Taron Egerton in the lead, Jamie Foxx as Little John, and professional bad guy Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The trailer and poster both dropped this week. But people have noticed something very inaccurate about his hood.

Yes, his hood looks as perfect as anything you’d buy in JD Sports in 2018. The Robin Hood stories are take place during the reign of Richard I, who died in 1199.

People have spotted similarly anachronistic jackets in the trailer.

Robin Hood is in UK cinemas November 23rd.
