Tom Hardy is going bad. Very bad.
Given the fact that Tom Hardy is an incredibly in-demand actor, we imagine that he’s very particular when it comes to choosing his future projects.
Over the years, the star of Inception and Locke has turned down roles in Suicide Squad, Terminator Genysis, Everest and Black Mass to name just a few. Wise moves in hindsight, but it’s clear that Hardy isn’t driven by the pay cheque or the expected box-office revenue that a film will make, but rather the role itself.
With this in mind, his decision to star in the new Spider-Man spin-off, Venom, got film fans very excited because it’s a very interesting role for the actor to take.
For those who don’t know – or didn’t see Spider-Man 3 (lucky you) – Venom is basically a parasitic alien that latches itself onto its host in order to survive. In return, it gives that host some seriously impressive strength and agility but it also has a tendency to make them go just a little bit crazy.
In the film, Hardy will be playing Eddie Brock, the first victim that falls prey to the Venom parasite in the comic books, and he will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, the filmmaker who previously directed the cult hit Zombieland.
While we don’t get a glimpse of Hardy transforming into the titular character, we do have official proof that the star of Legend and Bronson is involved.
The brilliant Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams are also attached to star in the comic book spin-off.
Venom is due in cinemas on October 5th 2018.
We can’t wait!
