Frank Ocean is reportedly being sued by his father after writing about him in a post about the Pulse nightclub shooting in June.
At the time, the singer wrote about homophobia on Tumblr and shared a story involving his dad about the first time he experienced it.
‘I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a ‘faggot’ as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,’ Ocean wrote.
‘That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.’
Following this, the singer’s father Calvin Cooksey is suing him for defamation. He is claiming that the incident is fabricated and that the post on Tumblr made it hard for him to get acting and singing work.
He is suing Ocean for $14.5m (£11.6m) in damages, according to TMZ reports, which have since been corroborated by court documents.
