Yep, it looks like it’s going to happen alright.
When word first emerged that Conor McGregor was in line to appear in Game of Thrones, it appeared as if it was just another instance of the ‘fake news’ that has been rearing its head on the internet of late.
Sure, McGregor has personality and charisma in spades and recently made a cameo in the latest Call of Duty game (as did Kit Harington), but a role in arguably the biggest TV series around right now seemed a little far-fetched.
Not so, according to reputable Game of Thrones fan site Watchers on the Wall, who have provided a little clarity on the initial reports.
First of all, they reference a Dana White interview with TMZ Sports in which, when asked about reports linking McGregor with a role in Game of Thrones, he had the following response (skip to 4:28 in the video below).
“I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show,” said White.
“And I’m glad he did it. It’ll be great. Yeah, the show’s huge, it’s awesome and I’m excited for him,” he added.

With White appearing to confirm McGregor’s appearance on the show, Watchers on the Wall also received information from an unidentified source who suggested that McGregor will play a pirate belonging to Euron Greyjoy’s crew on the ship, ‘Silence’.
The cameo, the source says, will be a brief one and it won’t be a speaking part.
Guess that’s put paid to any hopes we had of him saying, “You know fu**in’ nothin’ Jon Snow,” but it will be interesting to see how this pans out nonetheless.
