Those long nights without new episodes of Game of Thrones to binge on are almost over as the world’s best show returns to Sky Atlantic and Now TV.
Given that we’ve been itching to learn more about life in the Seven Kingdoms, the spectacular trailer and all those little hidden clues have whetted our appetite even more.
As things currently stand, Daenerys is heading across the Narrow Sea, largely due to the contribution of Yara Greyjoy and her fleet of ships.
It’s clear that there’s a mutual respect between both leaders – who can forget ‘that’ sexually charged scene in Season 6 – but in an interview with The Times, actress Gemma Whelan has revealed that she was almost fired from the show after she updated her CV.
Granted, nobody likes spoilers but this seems even stricter than a lesson from Ser Alliser Thorne at The Wall.
“The first lesson I learnt was when I first got the job. No one told me to keep quiet about it. I just thought it was normal to pop it in my Spotlight entry, so I wrote on my CV, “This summer, Gemma will be playing Yara Greyjoy in Game of Thrones.” And the internet went nuts. One of the lovely, lovely producers on Thrones called me into his office and said, “This is very serious. We almost can’t employ you because of this.”
See, it’s not just her villainous uncle Euron that Yara has to contend with.
In other random Thrones news, Emilia Clarke has been talking about the one scene that made her throw up on set and we’re fairly confident that Game of Thrones fans will already know what it is. Remember when she had to eat the heart of a horse?
“It was very helpful to be given something so truly disgusting to eat, so there wasn’t much acting required. They made the heart out of solidified jam but it tasted like bleach and raw pasta. I ate roughly 28 hearts throughout the days we filmed that scene. Fortunately, they gave me a spit bucket because I was vomiting in it quite often.”
