New Game of Thrones footage released ahead of Season 8

Paul Moore

Less than two weeks to go

With Game of Thrones set to return in the early hours of April 15, the countdown is nearly over as the world’s biggest show gets set to go out with a bang. How much of a bang?

Well, the Battle of Winterfell is set to be the longest episode in Game of Thrones history and to make things even better, it’s also going to be the longest battle in the history of TV and film.

And even after that skirmish at the home of House Stark ends, we’re set for three more episodes.

As Jon Snow famously said, “there’s only one war that matters, the Great War and it is here” but with Season 8 drawing ever closer, two new promos have been released.

Fire and blood, indeed.

Ok, in terms of new footage, what do we see?

We get Jon and Arya meeting at the godswood in Winterfell, Dany standing in front of a fireplace with her back turned to Jon (has she finally learned about his true lineage and the fact that they’re related?), Beric Dondarrion lighting his sword (presumably during the barn-burning Battle of Winterfell), the Unsullied raising their shields, Varys looking up at something in awe (we presume a dragon), Arya fighting on the battlefield, and Tyrion speaking in Winterfell’s great hall.

Jon and Arya, together again. Now if that doesn’t make you happy then nothing will.

Take a look at the promos below.

Game of Thrones airs at 2am on Sky Atlantic on 15 April and it’s also available to watch via Now TV.
