Unless you’ve been living peacefully under a rock for the past 24 hours you’ll probably be aware that superstar couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are divorcing.
News of their split spread like wildfire across the internet last night and presumably dominated the entertainment pages of every newspaper in the world.
But one person who rather surprisingly appears to have missed the memo is George Clooney. The 55-year-old actor has been pals with Pitt since they co-starred in Ocean’s 11 back in 2001. You’d think, then, that he’d have known about the divorce long before social media began relentlessly sharing Jennifer Aniston memes in reaction.
Nope.
To be fair to Clooney, he had good reason to be preoccupied. The Money Monster star was attending the United Nations meeting on the refugee crisis in New York, joining a roundtable also occupied by Barack Obama.
During an interview with CNN’s Richard Roth, Clooney was asked for his thoughts on the end of Brangelina, and it was immediately clear that he had no clue what he was talking about.
Looking visibly taken aback by what he’d just been told, the Hollywood star said: “I didn’t know that. Wow. I feel very sorry then. That’s a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It’s an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that.”

Pitt and Jolie first got together in 2005 after meeting on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith two years earlier, and they have six children. Upon filing for divorce the Tomb Raider actress and UN ambassador cited irreconcilable differences.
