Cult-comedy Impractical Jokers has been renewed for an eighth season and there’s even better news because a film is also coming. Renowned comedy website Funny or Die will be producing the film and it’s going to be directed by Chris Henchy.
In case you’re not familiar with the show, the comedy troupe is comprised of James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, Joe Gatto, and Sal Vulcano, who are also known as The Tenderloins.
The hidden camera show follows the childhood friends as they challenge each other to perform awkward and embarrassing dares in public.
Speaking about the new season, Chris Linn, President of truTV said: “The Jokers’ authentic friendship and genuine relatability has endeared them to millions of fans around the world, creating one of the most original brands in all of television. We’re incredibly proud of the partnership we’ve developed with the guys throughout the years, and the growing, multiplatform success of the Impractical Jokers brand.”
Regarding the length of the new season, there’s going to be 26-episodes in Season 8.
As for the film, Variety have stated that production starts this spring and the story revolves around a humiliating high school mishap from 1992 that sends the Impractical Jokers on the road competing in hidden camera challenges for the chance to turn back the clock and redeem three of the four.
After this good news was revealed, the guys released the following statement: “We’re as surprised as anyone that four dudes from Staten Island have been allowed to make a TV show for as long as we have, so the idea of making this movie is absolutely mind-blowing.”
Fans are bound to be delighted with this news.
