Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Paul Sorvino and Lorraine Bracco marvelled at the enduring popularity ofĀ the 1990 classic.
“You’re learning about aĀ lifestyle that thank God 99% of us don’t know about,” said Liotta, attemptingĀ to explain the film’s iconic standing.
Paul Sorvino, who played feared caporegime Paul Vario, admitted that he was initially shocked by the level of violence in the scriptĀ and almost left the production.
“I never played anything like that – that kind of a lethal character. Three days before we were about to shoot, I called my manager and said ‘Get me out!'” explainedĀ Sorvino.
The cast also revealed that the film’s most famous scene –Ā Joe Pesci’s ‘Funny how?‘ rage – was largely ad-libbed.
