Here are the best horror films from the 21st century, according to critics

How many of these have you seen?

If you’re in search of a good horror film to watch over Halloween, these Netflix picks should do it, but if you fancy expanding your horizons, we’ve taken a look at those scary movies that thrilled critics and audiences alike.

Granted, Rotten Tomatoes isn’t always the most accurate source for a fair review – Home Alone only has 56% – but it’s generally a fair reflection of what audiences can expect.

With this in mind, here are the 20 horror films from the 21st century that have impressed critics the most. FYI, we included a brief plot description for those films that might not be as well known.

Note: Shaun of the Dead. This is the End and Zombieland made the list but we didn’t include them as they’re more comedies than horrors.

Plot: A young man in a personal tailspin flees from US to Italy, where he sparks up a romance with a woman harboring a dark, primordial secret.
