More time to chill.
There’s no denying that the overall standard and production values of TV shows has skyrocketed in recent years, but the increase in all of these addictive and absorbing shows has seriously tested the patience of viewers.
Be honest, you’ve probably descended into fits of rage while waiting for your favourite show to return. No matter how bad that you think you are though, there’s always people that are worse. You know the types, your friends that go all Joffrey/Gus Fring/Tony Soprano whenever the ad break comes on.
Thankfully, Netflix has eliminated all of those needless breaks and distractions. A recent article by Cord Cutting has revealed the amount of time that Netflix saves you from having to watch commercials and it’s quite interesting. It states:
“From Nielsen, we know that a typical hour of cable television includes 15 minutes, 38 seconds – or 938 seconds – of commercials. Multiply that figure by 1.67 repeating and you get 1,563.3 (also repeating) seconds of commercials per day. That’s 570,616.7 seconds per year, which works out to 158.5 hours. So each subscriber saves him or herself about 160 hours of commercials per year by streaming their content through Netflix.”
To put this figure into context, that’s more than six days a year. Now that you know this information, what are you going to do with the extra time?
Go travelling, spend more time with friends, or, most likely, plank yourself down on the couch and watch more Netflix. It’s the best option.
