The Warrens are coming back to investigate the paranormal.
Much like comedy, making a good horror can be an incredibly difficult thing because filmmakers always run the risk of making things too cheesy, cliched or ludicrous.
This being said, there’s a reason why the first two Conjuring films have made $638.3m worldwide at the box-office. They’re just really well made horror films that feel old-school in their tone and set-pieces while seamlessly incorporating technology to enhance the scares.
It also helps that Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are incredibly good actors because no matter how strange and surreal the paranormal story is, their performances help to ground the story.
Well, we’re delighetd to say that The Conjuring 3 will be arriving and the script is going to be penned by Davie Leslie Johnson (Orphan, Aquaman and the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street)
There’s one change though and it’s behind the lens.
James Wan, the talented filmmaker who has directed the first two films in the series, is not likely to helm this one. He’s busy shooting Aquaman, so we presume that his schedule is busy throughout next year.
Still though, given the fact that The Conjuring 3 will be the seventh film in the growing Conjuring universe – the first two films plus Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun and The Crooked Man – we’re confident in saying that these filmmakers know exactly what they’re doing.
As for the continued adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren, who knows what demonic spirits they’re going to investigate?
We’re already intrigued and a little bit scared.
