The director has made the best horror of the last decade. This looks great.
There’s something about Scandinavia that just lends itself to superb murder mysteries and horror. Maybe it’s the cold, desolate and unforgiving environment that’s so fertile for film and TV.
In recent years, we’ve seen some superb efforts like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Killing, The Bridge and Let the Right One In to name but a few. Another title that you could add to this list was Jo Nesbø’s Headhunters which was slick, stylish and very memorable.
We’re delighted to say that another one of Nesbø’s novels is being adapted for the big screen and the Snowman looks like an absolute doozy.
Based upon the best-selling thriller by the Norwegian author , The Snowman revolves around Detective Harry Hole as he  investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman.
Michael Fassbender finally gets to scratch that Detective itch and if that’s not enough reason to get excited then know this, the director is Tomas Alfredson. Who? Well, he’s only the genius that made the superb Let the Right One In and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
The supporting cast in this one is excellent as Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer, Chloë Sevigny, J.K Simmons, Toby Jones and Charlotte Gainsbourg all feature.
It has been a long time since we enjoyed a classic murder mystery that’s dripping in blood, The Snowman looks like just the ticket.
The search begins on October 13.
