It’s fair to say that Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight debut has not been without its doubters in the run-up to Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, but a lot of the post-reaction to the US premiere has been pretty encouraging.
The movie doesn’t hit screens until this Friday (March 25), and reviews are currently still under embargo. But fans leaving the first screening in New York were full of praise for Affleck’s Batman and, in particular, Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman.
Some people even thought the movie was a warning shot to Marvel, if indeed it acts as a precedent for DC’s future projects.
So Ben Affleck is my favorite Batman now.. #BVSPremiere

Affleck's Bruce Wayne may be the best on screen to date. #BatmanvSuperman #BVSPremiere

Batman v Superman was great. Jesse Eisenberg's performance in particular blew me away. #BatmanvSuperman

If #BatmanvSuperman is an example of what to expect from future DC movies then Marvel better watch out

Some pretty big claims in there. Maybe the most interesting thing to emerge from those reactions is that nobody reported comic book character overkill.
The movie features Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Lex Luthor, Alfred, Lois Lane and Doomsday, and recently director Zack Snyder revealed that he had even planned to cram in both The Joker and The Riddler as well, before changing his mind later on.
We’ll all get to make up our own minds at the weekend.
